OAK PARK VILLAGE 215 W. Bandera Rd. #106 Boerne, TX Phone: (830) 249-0089 HOURS Mondays 5 pm to 9 pm Tuesday - Thursday 11am to 9pm Friday - 11am to 10pm Saturday - 4pm to 10pm Closed Sundays In the late 1960's, the Prifitera Family opened the first Naples in Connecticut. After a few site changes, the restaurant found it's home on the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut. For some 30 years, anyone and everyone who has been to Yale has eaten at Naples. Even Bill Clinton, during his law school days (and who argued politics with Joe Prifitera .... Joe, God rest his soul, was a Republican!), had been a patron at Naples. Many artists such as Mitch Miller, Bill Cosby, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, and Bob Dylan--to name a few--have renewed their artistic spirit on several occasions in the relaxed atmosphere at Naples. Still located at Yale, Naples is a place where no one will rush you out the door. Many individuals have written their books, doctoral theses, and music while eating there. One of the first cooks for Naples was a gentleman named Joe Slivey. During his time there a song writer named Alan Sherman patronized the restaurant, and was so taken by Mr. Slivey's character that he mentioned him in one of his songs ...."Hello mudda, hello fadda, things are great at, Camp Granada .... Went a walking, with Joe Slivey, and got a case of poison ivy!" The name Naples comes from the style of pizza that is served. In Italy, pizza is very different from what most Americans are used to experiencing. Pizza in Italy is regionally distinct. The Naples (Napoli) area serves a Neapolitan style pizza that is the most similar to the American style of pizza. The restaurant has gone through many changes over the years, withstanding the tests of time--from the campus riots of the 60's, to the student protests of the 90's, and today, a move to south Texas. Why here, you may ask? Well, the youngest member of the Prifitera family (who holds a doctorate degree) never went into the family business (his mother says it was because "he just wasn't smart enough because it took him sooooooo long to finish school!"). Instead, he moved to Texas in the late 1980's. With every visit by family and friends, the decision to join him came closer and closer. Of course, to all of us native and naturalized Texans .... why would anyone want to live anywhere else?? © Copyright 2011 Naples Pizza Inc.      All Rights Reserved Website Designed And Hosted By Boerne Web Designing
